By Claudette RouloAmerican Forces Press Service KABUL, Afghanistan, May 11, 2013 – Deputy Defense Secretary Ash Carter arrived here today for meetings with senior U.S. and Afghan officials. According to a senior U.S. defense official, among those Carter will be meeting with is Marine Corps Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr., commander of the International Security Assistance Force and U.S. Forces Afghanistan. Dunford is slated to provide Carter with an on-the-ground assessment of the current status of the U.S. military drawdown in Afghanistan. |
