Nov. 20, 2008 - Afghan and coalition forces detained a key insurgent leader in an early morning raid in Afghanistan's Khowst province yesterday. Hakim Jan is responsible for the deaths of Afghan security force members and roadside-bomb attacks on coalition forces, officials said.

In other news from Afghanistan, Afghan and coalition forces detained a suspected militant during a combined operation targeting the Haqqani terrorist network in Khowst.

The combined force searched a compound, targeting a militant known to be in direct contact with senior Haqqani leaders who finance and facilitate terrorist activities in the region, officials said. The search turned up a rifle, a pistol and an ammunition magazine.
