Before
yesterday, when the President of the United States drew a red line, the World
understood that it was crossed at great peril to the transgressor. Yesterday, the World understood that the
United States of America did not make ideal threats. Yesterday, the World was safer.
The
difference was created when the President argued that a military strike against
Syria is the right thing to do and that he has the legal authority to do
so. At the same time, he said he is
going to ask Congress for approval.
Mr.
President, more than seeking Congressional approval you need to look around the
basement of the White House for boxes from the Truman administration and pull
out that sign that says “The Buck Stops Here.”
