WASHINGTON, Aug. 5, 2015 – Army officials have announced
upcoming Iraq and Afghanistan rotations slated for August and September,
Pentagon spokesman Navy. Capt. Jeff Davis said in a briefing today.
“These are routine rotations to replace personnel that are
already there,” Davis said.
Of note, he said, 1,250 soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat
Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York, will rotate to Iraq in
support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
Meanwhile, Fort Drum will see 300 additional 10th Mountain
Division soldiers deploy alongside 1,000 soldiers from the Fort Polk,
Louisiana-based 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, to Afghanistan
in support of Operation Freedom Sentinel.
Additionally, 450 soldiers from III Corps, based at Fort
Hood, Texas, will deploy to Kuwait in September for a 12-month rotation in the
headquarters for Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve, Davis
said.
CJTF-OIR is “leading the regional campaign of coalition and
international partners to synchronize military activities across the Islamic
State of Iraq and the Levant,” he said.
