Why Do Violent Attacks Keep Happening?
Our prisons are filled with countless nameless, faceless murderers, but we only remember the notorious ones. That’s because we only celebrate the truly sensational acts of violence. And we continue to set the bar higher and higher for those that would commit mass murder for recognition. It’s this promotion of violence through the media (and not necessarily any particular religious ideology), that not only serves to “radicalize” impressionable and unstable people, but also turns them into instant celebrities once they kill. The truth is, it’s not Islamic State that creates the majority of “terrorists.” We do by making celebrities out of them.
