Iraqis Detain Seven on Terrorism Charges

Sept. 9, 2009 - Iraqi forces, with U.S. advisors, arrested seven terrorist suspects yesterday in northern Iraq, military officials reported. Iraqi soldiers arrested a man in Diyala province on a court order charging him with conducting terrorist activities in the community. A second man was brought in for questioning.

During a separate mission in Ninevah province, elements of the Mosul special weapons and tactics team arrested two suspects on court orders who are believed to have conducted attacks against Iraqi and U.S. forces in the province.

In another operation in Ninevah province, the Tal Afar SWAT, with U.S. advisors, arrested three suspected terrorists, two on warrants for conducting attacks in the area, and a third who is believed to have worked with them.

All of the suspects were arrested without incident.
