WASHINGTON, June 18, 2006 – Iraqi army forces captured a man linked to kidnapping activities June 12 during an early morning raid in western Baghdad, officials in Iraq said yesterday.
The kidnapper worked for insurgents in the Abu Ghraib area of Baghdad, officials said. His kidnapping activities funded terrorist activities such as car-bomb attacks. The funds also provided ammunition and weapons for attacks against Iraqi citizens and security and coalition forces. Iraqi forces also seized three AK-47 assault rifles and one pistol.
