Iraqis Arrest 4 Terrorism Suspects

July 9, 2010 - Iraqi security forces arrested four terrorism suspects in recent combined operations in Iraq, military officials reported.

In western Mosul yesterday, Iraqi forces working with U.S. advisors arrested a suspected al-Qaida in Iraq leader who allegedly is responsible for the consolidation and distribution of funds that support the terror organization throughout the northern Iraq city, along with three of his associates. The suspect also allegedly is connected with acquiring components used for the construction of roadside bombs.

In Kirkuk on July 7, Iraqi forces working with U.S. advisors arrested a suspected al-Qaida in Iraq criminal associate while searching for a suspected member of the terrorist organization who allegedly has links to numerous attacks involving vehicle-borne bombs, suicide vests and roadside bombs. He also is believed to be responsible for facilitating the movement of foreign fighters into Iraq.
