Missouri Airmen deploy in support of Operation Inherent Resolve

3/3/2015 - ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- Airmen assigned to the 139th Airlift Wing departed Rosecrans Air National Guard Base here Feb. 25 for a deployment to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar.

More than 100 Airmen and a portion of the 139th AWs Air Force C-130 Hercules aircraft fleet are supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

Aircrews, maintenance and support personnel from the 180th Airlift Squadron and 139th Maintenance Group will provide airlift capabilities for U.S. and coalition forces in U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.

"We do it for those who can't do it for themselves," said a navigator who is part of the deployment. "And I love it."

Operation Inherent Resolve involves a coalition of nations conducting air strikes in Iraq and Syria to eliminate the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL.
