Coalition Troops Target Enemy Fighters in Afghanistan

American Forces Press Service

May 25, 2008 - Several extremists were killed and six were detained May 23 during a coalition operation to disrupt anti-government operations in Afghanistan's Helmand province,
military officials reported. Coalition forces searched several compounds in the province's Garmser district, targeting an extremist cell conducting financing, weapons and foreign fighter operations in the area, officials said.

During their search, coalition forces identified several extremists maneuvering against the force and responded with small-arms fire and an air strike.
