9/11/2014 - MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- -- Can you remember where you were or what you were doing when the attack happened on 9/11?

Today is a day of reflection ...

Thirteen years ago on Tuesday, September 11th at 8:46 a.m., terrorists started a series of coordinated suicide attacks against the United States. As a result, 2,977 innocent lives were taken from us -- among them 2,672 Americans and 24 Japanese citizens.

We honor the heroic 343 firefighters, 65 law enforcement officers and 15 emergency medical technicians who gave their lives that fateful day.

Members of the base gathered together at 8:15 a.m. to honor the memory of those who were lost on September 11th with a reading of prayers, a lying of a wreath, and the ringing of the "Last Alarm" in a Patriot Day Ceremony on Misawa Air Base, Japan, Sept. 11, 2014.
