Iraqi Forces Arrest 12 Terrorism Suspects

April 12, 2010 - Iraqi forces, working with U.S. advisors, captured a dozen suspected terrorists and killed three others in operations in Iraq in recent days, military officials reported.

Yesterday, Iraqi security forces arrested six suspected terrorists during three operations in and around Baghdad.

In western Baghdad, Iraqi forces arrested a suspected associate of an al-Qaida in Iraq member suspected in backing vehicle-borne bombing attacks.

During another operation just west of Baghdad, a combined patrol searched a building for another al-Qaida in Iraq Baghdad leader suspected in vehicle-borne bombing attacks against civilians and security forces in the capital city. Iraqi forces arrested three suspected criminal associates of the wanted man at the scene.

In the third operation, Iraqi forces arrested two more suspected al-Qaida in Iraq terrorists after searching a residence just west of Baghdad for a man suspected of being part of the terror organization's security element.

On April 10, Iraqi forces arrested four suspected associates of an al-Qaida in Iraq weapons dealer southeast of Baghdad after a combined team searched three buildings for an alleged terrorist leader suspected in vehicle-borne bombing attacks.

Also on April 10, Iraqi forces killed three suspected al-Qaida in Iraq members and arrested two others during a combined operation in northeast of Tikrit in northern Iraq.
