June 18, 2010 - Iraqi security forces arrested a wanted member of the al-Qaida in Iraq terrorist group and a suspected criminal associate of the group during separate combined operations conducted with U.S. advisors in northern Iraq today, military officials reported.
Southeast of Kirkuk, Iraqi forces and U.S. advisors arrested a suspected al-Qaida in Iraq member believed to be responsible for the organization's security.
In Tikrit, Iraqi forces and U.S. advisors searching for a wanted al-Qaida in Iraq member believed to be responsible for vehicle-borne bombing attacks arrested a suspected criminal associate of the wanted man.
Iraqi and U.S. forces conduct combined operations in accordance with the security agreement between the two countries and in coordination with the Iraqi government to target terrorists seeking to disrupt Iraq's security and stability, officials said.
