The Department of Defense announced
today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
1st Lt. Alejo R. Thompson, 30, of
Yuma, Ariz., died May 11 in Bagram, Afghanistan, when enemy forces attacked his
unit with small-arms fire. He was
assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team,
4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.
