The Department of Defense announced
today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Pfc. Shane W. Cantu, 20, of
Corunna, Mich., died Aug. 28, in Charkh, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when
he was hit by shrapnel. Cantu was assigned to 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry
Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Caserma Ederle, Vicenza, Italy.
