Aug. 20, 2010 - Iraqi security forces arrested seven people with suspected ties to terrorist groups in recent operations in Iraq, military officials reported.
Near Balad today, Iraqi forces working with U.S. advisors searched several buildings for a suspected al-Qaida in Iraq leader allegedly responsible for attacks against Iraqi and coalition forces. Information and evidence gathered at the scene led Iraqi forces to identify and arrest four suspected criminal associates of the wanted man.
In an operation near Baghdad today, Iraqi forces working with U.S. advisors searched several buildings for a suspected al-Qaida in Iraq leader who allegedly is responsible for facilitating vehicle-borne bomb attacks and allegedly has close ties to senior members of the terrorist organization. Information and evidence gathered at the scene, including a 107 mm rocket, led Iraqi forces to identify and arrest a suspected criminal associate of the wanted man.
Yesterday in western Mosul, Iraqi forces working with U.S. advisors searched a building for a suspected al-Qaida in Iraq member who allegedly has close ties to the organization's senior leaders. The information and evidence gathered at the scene led Iraqi forces to identify and arrest two suspected criminal associates of the wanted man.
